The Executive Chef at Hermitage Hotel is seeking ambitious CDPs who are passionate about food and eager to develop their skills and knowledge.

At The Hermitage Hotel, we offer our guests a variety of dining options during the summer, including the iconic Panorama Room, the premier Alpine Restaurant, Sir Edmund Hillary Café, Snowline Bar, and the Chamois Bar and Grill.

You may work in any or all of these outlets, providing an exciting opportunity to broaden your culinary experience and challenge your skills.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining high guest satisfaction by preparing and serving quality dishes
  • Planning daily operational needs, including equipment, food stock, and time management for food delivery and service
  • Collaborating with team members to monitor dish quality throughout preparation, presentation, and service
  • Supporting cost control and budget management by estimating food costs and managing usage, wastage, and specials
  • Assisting in managing wages through effective time management, training, and supporting staff
  • Working as part of the kitchen team to maintain a safe, efficient, and pleasant working environment that exceeds customer expectations
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and food preparation standards

What you will bring to the role:

  • Experience in fast-paced or high-volume kitchens, with six months or more preferred
  • Culinary qualifications and education are preferred, with proficiency in English
  • A commitment to food safety
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional manner
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to multitask and work efficiently

The role and benefits:

  • Full-time, permanent employment, minimum 60 hours per fortnight, at $29.00 – $32 per hour
