Would you like to be actively involved in supporting young people — and their families — to identify patterns in their lives they want to shift, and support them in achieving their full potential?

We now have an exciting 6-month fixed term opportunity for a Youth Practitioner to join the team and be part of a group of mental health and addiction providers working together to deliver a service in the Counties Manukau area.

This role is fixed term to cover a period of parental leave, and ideally, the successful candidate will be able to start early November .

The Stand Up! Community Service aims to develop cohesive and responsive services that meet the wellbeing needs of young people — including our Pacific youth.

This will result in young people having increased access and choice of services to meet their primary mental health and addiction (MH&A) needs by offering flexible pathways, with an any door is the right door approach.

We will work together as one connected service to support young people in a range of settings, walking alongside them and their whānau every step of the way.

Young people and their whānau are at the centre of decision-making, and equity is at the forefront of all service development.

The suite of services involved in this approach will ensure there is a stepped approach to the level of support provided, depending on the complexity of the young person’s needs, from supportive to more intensive interventions.

    The successful candidate will have:

  • 1-3 years' relevant work experience in a similar role, including experience working with youth
  • Registration with a relevant professional body e.g. HPCA, Social Work, DAPAANZ, or on a pathway to gaining registration.

  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and of addiction issues
  • Excellent engagement, communication, and motivational enhancement skills
  • A passion for working with young people
  • Commitment to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Full current New Zealand drivers' licence
  • In return we can offer you:

  • A salary between $69, and $79,, depending on registration and experience
  • Monday to Friday: 7.30am – 4.00pm
  • 22 days annual leave + 5 days paid study leave per annum
  • To be part of growing a service for rangatahi within the Auckland region
  • To take your career to the next level and utilize your skills and experience
  • To apply, please send us your CV and a cover letter and complete the additional information questionnaire online.

For all enquiries, please contact Michelle the People and Capabilities Coordinator on .

    Closing date: Monday, 27 October

Please note that Police and Oranga Tamariki clearance checks are required for this role.

Odyssey is an equal opportunity employer and a smoke free organisation.

We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

We particularly encourage applications from Māori and Pacific peoples.
