The parental cover Senior Winemaker will be responsible for proactively leading a quality-focused and high performing team.
The Winemaker oversees, manages and monitors all stages of the winemaking process ensuring a quality product is produced to agreed standards, quality, compliance and deadlines.
This role reports directly to our Head of Winemaking and Viticulture and works closely with the broader Spy team.
We are looking for a talented winemaker who aligns to our company Core Values.
Direct reports include Assistant and Technical Winemakers and Laboratory Technician.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership and Management
Responsible for the efficient, engaging, and motivational management of the Winemaking Team to achieve their goals.
Winemaking and Cellaring
Responsible for the production of award winning, quality wines that meet the requirements of Spy Valley Wine's consumers.
Manage all winemaking processes to deliver wine to style, budget and timelines
Ensure full understanding and maintain records relating to winemaking and ensure meet all statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements
Tertiary qualification in Oenology, or related discipline
Proven, strong people leadership skills and ability to manage a multidisciplinary team
10+ years relevant industry experience, with strong technical winemaking knowledge
Vintrace experience an advantage
Analytical and critical reasoning skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proactive and attention to detail
Strong organisation, planning and process improvement skills
Ability to work extended hours, when required
Current driver's licence and forklift licence
