About Verification Services


At Verification Services, our core purpose is to deliver independent, cost-effective, and high-quality verification, certification, inspection, and clearance programs that meet all regulatory requirements.

We're committed to providing a range of food safety and biosecurity verification and certification services to at least 2,000 processing companies across New Zealand, including the meat, seafood, game, and dairy industries.


Export meat is a significant area of focus for MPI Verification Services, accounting for 80% of our activities.

Our work encompasses farms, abattoirs, meat and fish packhouses, cold storage facilities, and other specialized premises processing animal products.


As a veterinarian with MPI Verification Services, you'll have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects in the food safety and biosecurity sectors, making a real difference to the safety and quality of our agricultural products.


MPI Verification Services is looking for skilled veterinarians to fill a range of roles across New Zealand, from Northland to Southland and everywhere in between.

    Veterinary Technical Supervisor 2


    Being based at a singluar premises, a Veterinary Technical Supervisor 2 will verify that requirements and procedures are being followed to support New Zealand's reputation in the world red meat market and ensure food safety and export standards are being followed by the premises.

    Veterinary Technical Supervisor Reliever


    A Veterinary Technical Supervisor Reliever travels around the region to provide verification services that confirms food safety objectives, market access and Biosecurity requirements have been met at the establishment thereby permitting the issue of official assurances.

    Veterinary Technical Supervisor 1


    Either having sole charge or being a supervising vet (lead) at a premise, a Veterinary Technical Supervisor 1 will be an experienced Veternarian with demonstrated track record of effective communication, stakeholder relationship skills and leadership qualities.

    Benefits of working at MPI


    Our Establishment team can offer you a structured working week where you get paid overtime after working 40 hours and unsociable hours compensation, including shift allowance and penal rates if applicable.

    Work hours are typically Monday – Friday, with some weekend hours during peak seasons.

    Early starts, or late finishes are recognised with penal time payments, as well as shift leave accumulation.

    As a member of the Verification Services team, you will collaborate with a diverse group of individuals from both within MPI and external businesses across New Zealand.

    To be eligible for these positions, candidates must be registered as a Veterinarian in New Zealand, or be able to obtain registration with the Veterinary Council of New Zealand.

    A potentially successful candidate will be expected to: 

  • Ensure that official assurances issued for export products are valid and withstand third party reviews through audit and verification of the operators and their processes.

  • Ensure that operators put into place timely and effective corrective and preventative actions.

  • Responsibly manage your workload, including;
  • Recognising workloads and ensure that tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner and ensure efficient use of resources and hours.

  • Work successfully with & support the regional MPI team, as well as the wider MPI team such as the technical team and other external stakeholders such as farmers.

  • Work with operator personnel of different levels from plant manager to frontline staff and will be able to tailor your communication with them effectively.

  • Attend and facilitate internal, external and market access reviews.

    Demonstrate the process to these reviewers and facilitate, in conjunction with the operator and MPI, resolution of any review findings.
