Urgent! Tug Driver Job Opening In Picton – Now Hiring StraitNZ



Job description

StraitNZ Bluebridge Limited is a freight and passenger shipping company carrying passengers and vehicles between Wellington and Picton up to four times daily on both the Strait Feronia the Connemara.




Please note before applying: Applicants for this position must reside in New Zealand and must have a valid New Zealand work visa.

Also as part of our recruitment process you must satisfy a pre-employment medical, drug test and a Ministry of Justice check.

We are searching for an experienced Class 5 Truck Driver to join our freight team based at Waitohi Wharf, Picton.

You must be able to do shift work, and work some weekends and public holidays to be considered for the role as we are a 24/7 operation.
In this key role you will contribute to the loading and discharging of freight/cargo, heavy machinery, truck and trailers, semis, b-trains on and off the vessel at the request of the Load Mate.


Helping you understand the port environment is all part of the on-the-job training offered and we’ll also provide support getting your Dangerous Goods (DG) and F endorsements, if required.



We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has an excellent work ethic and attendance record
  • Is punctual, reliable, honest and positive
  • Works in a safe and efficient manner and will comply with company policies and procedures
  • Can follow instructions and take direction
  • Works well in a diverse team environment

  • Of course, there are a few technical requirements which are important to have:
  • A Class 5 licence and a clean and safe driving record.
  • Experience driving B trains, Semis and Truck and Trailers
  • Excellent backing skills
  • Strong customer service and excellent communication skills
