OverviewThe Data & Information Branch is looking for a highly-skilled Technical Analyst to turn massive, complex data sets into actionable intelligence.
You will discover new leads, develop cutting-edge tradecraft, and build tools that enable the wider analytic community to extract maximum value from novel and bulk data sources.About the roleThe Technical Analyst remit is broad so we are seeking a wide range of skills to support the diverse requirements of this role.
You could have the opportunity to develop expertise, in support of our capability or mission requirements, in any of the following areas:Performing, and then automating, complex analysis across a wide range of datasetsDeveloping custom technical platforms and solutions to progress data analysis and data engineeringGleaning insights from our disparate data sets: identifying trends, changes, and summarising current informationMaintaining, progressing, and supporting systems that enable data collection, data analytics, data flow, and data insightsCreating solutions to explore, triage, and translate unique datasets through unsupervised learning, supervised learning, and neural machine translationUsing modern data science/AI/ML techniques to drive the intelligence missionAbout YouAs an experienced practitioner you will:Have a relevant degree and/or technical or analysis experience, such as data science, software or systems engineering or computer scienceHave expertise using tools like Python, SQL, Elastic or PowerBIBe able to learn new technical and analytical skills as requiredEnjoy working in a collaborative and creative work environmentBenefitsMedical Insurance and Vision Care packagesEnhanced employer contributions to your KiwisaverGenerous Leave benefits, including additional paid days off and enhanced sick and parental leaveChildcare allowance for your preschoolersOnsite free gym (Wellington only)Opportunities for personal and professional growthIf you are looking for an opportunity to make your mark in an exciting, fast paced and dynamic environment, then this is the role for you!
The expected appointing range for this position is between $73,684 - $78,596 for a level 1.
Appointment into a level 2 position will be dependent on previous skills and experience, with the appointment range between $103,009- $109,876 or level 3 between $120,359-128,383.Before you applyWorking within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.You must:Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 yearsORHold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 yearsBe eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearanceOrdinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.The NZIC treats all applications for employment in the strictest confidence and we expect that you maintain a similar level of confidentiality during the recruitment process and throughout your career.Salary Band F $73,684 (90%) - $94,152 (115%), Band H $103,009 (90%) - $131,622 (115%), Band I $120,358 (90%) - $153,791 (115%).
