About our team/Mō te tīma

Since its establishment in 1905 the Department of Physiology has grown to become one of the largest Departments in the University, being home to approximately 100 staff.

We make major contributions to the undergraduate and postgraduate education of students in science, medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy, medical lab sciences, nutrition, and physical education.

The role/Te mahi

As a Physiology Teaching Fellow based within our Department, you will contribute to our Science papers at 100- and 200-level (PHSL101, HUBS191/2, PHSL231/2/3, PHSL251) by carrying out lecturing (depending on the experience), tutoring, demonstrating and related administration.

The successful candidate will have:
• Relevant Bachelor degree minimum.
• May hold or be studying for a higher degree.
• Aptitude for effective teaching at tertiary level.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and independently.
• Evidence of an ability to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the institution.
• A commitment to upholding the principles of the Te Triti o Waitangi and promoting equal opportunity.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Well organized, with effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to maintain a professional approach with both staff and students while under pressure.

Further details/Pūroko

This is a part time (0.4 to 0.7 FTE), permanent position, located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

It is an academic-year-only appointment, running from mid-February to mid-November.

The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate step on the Teaching and Professional Practice Fellow salary scale $75,727 to $87,849 (pro rata), depending on skills, qualifications and experience.

You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this role.
