OverviewJoin to apply for the Teaching Fellow - Physics (Fixed Term) role at University of Otago.The Department of Physics invites applications for a Teaching Fellow to provide 100-level laboratory support.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position based in Otepoti Dunedin available January to July ****.About Our Team/Mo Te TimaThe Physics Department at the University of Otago was the first Physics Department established in New Zealand, and a foundation discipline when the University opened in ****.
Today, the Department embraces innovative teaching methods, promotes a vigorous research ethos, and is committed to Physics as a discipline and to its applications.
Our key objectives are to provide students with the highest quality education, and to produce research of international excellence.The role/Te mahiAs a Teaching Fellow within our Department, your focus will be to provide 100-level laboratory support.
Key tasks of the role will include:Demonstrating 100-level labs and providing exam support.Coordinating assessment marking and ensuring the provision of constructive and timely feedback to students.Supporting other undergraduate teaching in physics as required.Your skills and experience/Ka Pukeka Me Ka WheakoIdeally, candidates will have:Undergraduate physics laboratory experience.An ability to relate to a wide variety of people within a teaching environment.Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.Commitment to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and demonstrated understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Maori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.An ability to work collegially and independently.Further details/PurokoThis is a full-time (1 FTE), fixed-term position for six months (January to July ****), located in Otepoti, Dunedin.The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate step on the Teaching and Professional Practice Fellow salary scale ($75,727 to $87,849), based on skills, qualifications and experience.You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this role.The University of Otago is a workplace that values and utilises diverse and inclusive thinking, people and behaviours.
