Exciting teaching and mentoring opportunity for postgraduate students committed to ensuring Maori and Pasifika student wellbeing and success

AUT's Office of Pacific Advancement is looking for Teaching Assistants (TA) from across AUT's academic disciplines to implement Uni101 - the academic course component of UniPrep ****.
Uni101 within the UniPrep programme is designed to support academic preparedness for Maori and Pacific high school leavers transitioning to university.
Responsibilities
TAs are responsible for teaching and mentoring a whanau group of 25 students pursuing a degree in their faculty by cultivating a culturally affirming and inspiring learning environment that:
Honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Aronui: AUT's Te Tiriti framework, and centres ancestral knowledge from across Te Moana-Nui-a-Kiwa
Supports students to strengthen their sense of belonging, wellbeing, and academic preparedness in their transition journey
Deliver culturally enriching tutorials using the material prepared for UniPrep/Uni101 under the mentorship of the UniPrep Uni101 Cohort Lead.
Ensure students are clearly aware of learning outcomes and assessment requirements and are meeting the requirements of the course as well as mentoring students on their academic journey through the creation of a university transition success plan.
Qualifications
Be currently enrolled in a postgraduate programme or recently graduated with a postgraduate degree;
Hold a commitment to strengths-based approaches that empower Maori and Pacific learners to successfully navigate the university experience (prior teaching experience is highly desirable);
Provide opportunities to platform Indigenous knowledge, culture, and ways of being through their teaching and learning approach;
Promote a tuakana mindset and serve as a mentor to UniPrep students; and
Be comfortable using Canvas and other digital pedagogies and technology to support student learning.
Teaching Assistants report to the UniPrep 101 Cohort Lead and are a key member of the wider UniPrep team.
