Job description

OverviewTeacher of the Deaf - Kelston Intermediate.
This is a permanent, full-time teaching role based in our Kelston Intermediate Provision.
The successful candidate will be an experienced New Zealand registered classroom teacher with up-to-date knowledge of the New Zealand curriculum and assessment tools.ResponsibilitiesSmall class sizes: 2–10 students per class group.Strong commitment to learning NZSL with full support of lessons, day-to-day resources, and assistance.Collaborate in a teaching team that includes Teachers and Teacher Aides of the Deaf, with access to Educational Interpreters and other specialists as required.Apply deep knowledge of the NZ curriculum to raise achievement of akonga (students).
Be eligible for a MoE Study Award for a Post Graduate Teacher of the Deaf qualification.Five days CRT release time per term as per PTCA, with additional release during an induction phase.Qualifications and RequirementsNew Zealand registered classroom teacher with up-to-date knowledge of the NZ curriculum and assessment tools.Ability to lift student achievement and wellbeing; willingness to develop Deaf Culture and Deaf community awareness.Eligibility to work in New Zealand (legal entitlement to work).
