King’s College is an independent Anglican co-educational day and boarding school located in Ōtāhuhu, Auckland.

The college is renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and providing the best all-round education through both NCEA and CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) pathways.

We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and emotionally intelligent teacher to join our expanding and progressive design technology department .

The ideal candidate will be passionate about nurturing creativity, encouraging innovation, and guiding young minds to reach their full potential.

The successful applicant will have enthusiasm for emerging technologies such as CAD and CAM .

Our department features 3D printing, CNC routing, and laser cutting facilities, as well as design studios, workshops, breakout classrooms, and an exhibition space.

We support a wide range of projects including engineering, fabrics, ceramics, and glass alongside more traditional design practices.

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification – Bachelor’s or higher (or equivalent) in area of teaching specialty
  • Hold a Teaching Diploma and be a registered teacher
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in hard materials and technology
  • Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
  • Demonstrate a collaborative and constructive work style
  • Show proven ability in mentoring and coaching students, prefects, and student leaders
  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based reporting with clear recommendations.

The department includes an electronic engineer, architect, specialist designer, and development engineer, offering students a broad base of expertise and inspiration.
