Our client provides taxation, accounting, and business services specifically tailored for the music and film sector in both New Zealand and abroad.

They are actively seeking a Tax manager who is ready to embrace a rewarding career where your expertise is valued and within a collaborative environment navigate the complexities of taxation with innovation and precision.

Role Purpose:

The Tax Manager plays a pivotal role in leading our tax advisory services, ensuring excellence in delivery, compliance, and strategic tax planning when required.

This position is responsible for working with the partner on our entertainment clients and providing expert advice on international tax matters.

The Tax Manager will also be completing compliance work as part of the role and assist with any tax matters overall for the team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Client Advisory Services: Provide high-level tax advice to New Zealand residents working overseas and to overseas individuals working in New Zealand.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with New Zealand tax laws and international tax agreements, preparing and reviewing tax returns and documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Team Leadership: Work with all accountants to expand their tax knowledge and help them grow and learn.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and working with the partner to provide proactive tax advice.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Keep abreast of changes in tax legislation and international tax agreements, analysing impacts and updating advisory practices accordingly.
  • Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

    A postgraduate qualification or professional accounting designation (e.g., CA, CPA) is highly desirable.
  • Substantial experience in tax advisory roles (or as Tax Manager or as Senior Manager), with a strong focus on international tax.
  • In-depth knowledge of New Zealand tax laws and familiarity with international tax principles and agreements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
