Job description

  • South East Auckland service area: Mount Wellington, East Tamaki, Papatoetoe, Manukau
  • Full time positions, 65+ hours per fortnight on a variable roster
  • Must have flexible availability to work a variety of rostered shifts; mornings, evenings, overnight sleepovers, and every second weekend.

    As a Support Worker, you will empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to lead fulfilling lives at home and within their community.

    This role is deeply meaningful, allowing you to be creative and make each day engaging and significant for those you support.

    Your responsibilities include:


  • Fostering independence: Assist individuals in developing daily living skills such as using public transport and preparing meals.
  • Managing daily routines: Support with personal care tasks like showering, dressing and taking medication.
  • Pursuing goals and interests: Encourage and help individuals to follow their passions and hobbies.
  • Promoting health and well-being: Guide individuals in making healthy lifestyle choices and maintaining their overall well-being.
  • Building strong connections: Strengthen their relationships with whānau and community.

  • We are looking for someone to join as a full-time Support Worker in a Planned Leave Cover (PLC) role.

    Our PLC roles cover staff leave, so they do not have a fixed shift pattern and will work in different facilities across the Counties area.

    Your fortnightly shift pattern will vary, but you are guaranteed at least 65 hours per fortnight.

    This role requires you to have availability to work a range of rostered shifts, including mornings, evenings, overnight sleepovers, and every second weekend.

    No prior experience in the health and disability sector is necessary, but a strong desire to pursue a career as a Support Worker with a positive attitude is highly valued.

    Full training and orientation will be provided to individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.


  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts including days, evenings, sleepovers, and weekends.
  • Confidence to work with challenging behaviours.
  • Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support and participate in community activities.
  • A Full NZ driver's licence
