We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our community campus in East Christchurch.

This role for 2026 is dedicated to providing targeted support for students requiring accelerated literacy progress.

The successful applicant will implement structured literacy approaches, draw on Ministry-approved PLD, and apply explicit teaching principles to strengthen oral language, phonics, reading, writing, and comprehension.

This role will work amongst our English Medium and Māori Medium ākonga for a Structured Literacy Intervention in English.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored and explicit teaching to small groups and individuals needing accelerated literacy progress.

  • Apply structured literacy approaches to build strong foundations in phonemic awareness, systematic synthetic phonics, vocabulary, handwriting, fluency, and comprehension.

  • Use a range of assessment tools to track and analyse student progress.

  • Share data to evaluate effectiveness and inform teaching practice.

  • Report, monitor, and evaluate student outcomes in line with Ministry of Education requirements.

  • Work closely with teachers, whānau, and the wider community to ensure literacy support is consistent and reinforced across settings.

  • Be highly competent in teaching oral language, reading, writing, and literacy across the curriculum.
