Structured Literacy & Language Resource Teachers

Are you passionate about inclusive education and making a difference in the lives of Deaf and Hard of Hearing ākonga?

We are seeking two dedicated and innovative Structured Literacy and Language Resource Teachers to join our team for a part‑time (0.6FTE), fixed‑term position for 2026.

THE ROLE/TE MAHI

As a key member of our Resourcing and Curriculum Teams, you will collaborate with specialist BiBi teachers and Teachers of the Deaf to design and develop high‑quality, evidence‑based structured literacy and language resources.

Your work will directly support the implementation of the New Zealand Curriculum, ensuring it is accessible, inclusive and effective for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.

You will also play a vital role in coaching and supporting teachers to embed structured literacy and language approaches into their classroom practice, fostering inclusive, language‑rich environments where all ākonga can thrive.

  • Strong knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum, assessment and pedagogy
  • Recent classroom teaching experience, with expertise in structured literacy and language
  • Collaboration mindset and the ability to build strong professional relationships
  • Understanding of Deaf education, Deaf culture and inclusive practices
  • NZSL proficiency or a commitment to learning
  • A passion for equity, diversity and student success

YOU WILL / KA MAHI KOE

  • Design and develop engaging, culturally responsive literacy and language resources
  • Collaborate with BiBi teachers and Teachers of the Deaf to support classroom practice
  • Promote inclusive teaching strategies and Deaf pedagogy
  • Support teachers in fostering critical thinking, independence and reflective learning
