Overview

We have a great opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our Christchurch-based residential team.

This is an ideal role for an engineer with solid experience in residential design who is looking to take ownership of projects and work as part of a collaborative and experienced team.

About the Role

You’ll be working on a growing and diverse range of residential projects nationally, ranging from high-end architectural homes to complex structural alterations and additions.

Key responsibilities

  • Structural analysis and design, with a focus on seismic performance and compliance
  • Preparing concept through to detailed design documentation
  • Conducting on-site investigations and supporting construction delivery
  • Writing technical reports and fee proposals
  • Managing client relationships, project timelines, and deliverables
  • Contributing to internal process improvements and technical development

About You

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent
  • 5–8 years’ experience in structural engineering, with a focus on residential projects
  • Good working knowledge of NZ Building Code and relevant design standards
  • Experience in seismic design and detailing for timber-framed and mixed-material buildings
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with clients, councils, architects, and contractors
  • An organised and practical approach to problem-solving and project delivery
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, managing multiple projects effectively
