Why this role mattersOur Op Shop teams play a vital role in Thames — selling affordable pre-loved goods, recycling more to reduce waste, and raising funds for local services and community initiatives.
Behind the scenes, our storage shed keeps everything running smoothly.
We're looking for volunteers to help sort donations, tidy and organise the shed, and operate the ragging machine.
You'll be part of a friendly, hands-on team, lending a hand and making sure everything runs like clockwork.
The shed is just a couple of minutes from the store, so it's easy to get involved.What the role involves:Assisting with the pick-up and delivery of donated goods in Thames.Helping to organise and maintain the storage shed, keeping it clean and tidy.Operating the ragging machine to recycle cotton clothing (Training Provided).
Lifting, moving, and handling furniture and other larger items (a reasonable level of physical fitness is needed).
What we're looking for:A willingness to help and work as part of a team.Reliability and a positive attitude.Reasonable physical fitness to manage lifting and moving tasks.Requirements:We're after caring, community-minded people who'd like to give something back.
You don't need retail experience — if you're keen to learn, reliable, reasonably fit, and bring a positive attitude, we can show you the rest.What's involved in signing upTo make sure you're comfortable in the role (and we're keeping everyone safe), the process is simple:A friendly chat/interview with the store manager.A standard criminal record check.If you'll be helping with donation pick-ups, we'll also need to see a current full NZ Driver Licence.A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.Time commitment:Around four hours a week (flexible, to be discussed at interview).
