About the Role
Were looking for a passionate and skilled Speech Language Therapist to join our Allied Health Therapies team on a fixed-term basis, working across the inpatient wards at Hawkes Bay Hospital.

In this role, youll provide safe and effective assessment, intervention, and advice for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties, supporting their recovery and wellbeing.
Youll manage a varied caseload, working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This is a great opportunity to deepen your clinical experience, contribute to service improvement, and deliver culturally responsive care that supports equitable outcomes for Māori and Pasifika.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Youll be part of the Allied Health Therapies team, based within Te Whata Moanarua at Hawkes Bay Hospital.

The team is collaborative, values-driven, and committed to delivering high-quality, whānau-centred care.
Youll work alongside other speech language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, social workers, and clinical nurse specialists, with support from the Professional Leader for Speech Language Therapy.

About you
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
* A Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy recognised by NZSTA.

* Current NZ registration and Annual Practising Certificate.

* Clinical experience relevant to inpatient care.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a full NZ drivers licence.

* Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships.

* A positive, proactive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.

* Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice.

* Desired: Membership with NZSTA, and competence in VFSS, FEES, and tracheostomy management.Working at Health New Zealand
