Family Works Northern is a champion for children, providing professional counselling and social work in communities and schools and delivering programmes that bring about lasting change.
The OpportunityOn a day to day basis, you will be working in a local school setting, working with a caseload of families, providing early intervention and preventive social work services to vulnerable children and teens; and their whanau.
This includes individual and group work, and using our strengths-based, multi-systemic approach to encourage positive and lasting change.
Your Skills and ExperienceTo be successful as a Social Worker in Schools (SWIS) you will have a professional, warm and engaging nature; and have / be:
A tertiary level degree, majoring / specialised in Social Work
Registration with the Social Workers Registration Board
Full, clean NZ driver licence, and a reliable vehicle
Experience working as a Social Worker
Advanced interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, their families, the local school and your colleagues
Excellent ability to maintain professional boundaries, meet KPI's and adhere to practice requirements
Confident, working knowledge of Tikanga Maori; and commitment to working with Tangata Whenua
Experience working with children in a school setting would be a distinct advantage
