Playcentre Aotearoa is a well known and loved early childhood organisation with over 80 years of supporting parents to take the lead in their children’s learning through play.

Playcentre operates over 400 playcentres throughout the country.

Aria Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic session facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant playcentre community.

You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child-led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment for learning and positively support the playcentre education programme.

You will be a leader who encourages others to thrive; you will model playcentre philosophy and good practice while supporting whānau to gain confidence to have a go themselves.

27 January 2026 - negotiable with the successful candidate.

Days & hours:

Tuesday morning sessions, 3 hours per week this is inclusive of 30 mins non-contact time.

This is a permanent position during term time only.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or higher early childhood qualification;
  • Hold a current first aid certificate; or be prepared to achieve this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for playcentre and our philosophy;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience at centre level with tamariki and adults;
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • Ability to support and empower parents, whānau and caregivers in their role as kaiako;
  • Passion for supporting te reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.
