Service Technician Job Opening In Dunedin – Now Hiring Technical Recruitment Solutions Ltd

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Service Technician to join and assist in leading a Dunedin-based team.

This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and compliance of medical equipment across the lower South Island.

The Role
This is not your standard “test and tag” role.

As part of the Medical Testing Team, you’ll carry out complex functional testing and compliance on a wide range of medical devices across hospitals and medical centres.

You’ll be hands-on with equipment from leading global brands (think GE Healthcare, Mindray, Dräger, Welch Allyn, Tuttnauer, Medtronic, Sirona, and Stryker) from low-acuity equipment through to highly specialised hospital devices, ensuring compliance and patient safety.

The role includes regular South Island travel (typically Mon–Wed, 2–3 times a month), plus local workshop tasks when not on site.

Working behind the scenes, you’ll see a side of hospitals and clinics that few ever glimpse, all while building strong client relationships and contributing directly to patient safety.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Functional testing and compliance checks of medical equipment at client sites

  • Electrical safety testing of equipment within patient body-protected areas

  • Diagnosing and documenting faults, liaising with senior clinical staff when needed

  • Scheduling your own workload and maintaining accurate digital records

  • Building professional client relationships as the face of the company
  • Ideal Experience
With the busy Christmas and January period ahead, we need someone who can hit the ground running.

As you’ll be client-facing, strong communication skills, confidence, and accurate record-keeping are a must.

  • Electrical license is essential (EAS, EST, or Electrician)

  • Experience in medical equipment testing (highly desirable) Experience with Fluke Biomedical testing equipment or similar is a plus
Other pathways: automotive, avionics, HVAC, or electro-mechanical service

  • Strong computer and record-keeping skills (MS365, Google apps, bespoke systems)

  • Exceptional communication skills and professionalism with senior clinical staff

  • Confidence travelling/working independently and managing your own schedule

  • A practical, mechanically minded approach with strong initiative

  • Willingness to travel regularly and work independently
  • The Company
This family-based organisation is recognised for its supportive, collaborative culture, and long-serving staff (some with 25+ years tenure).

They’re trusted specialists in functional medical equipment testing – essential work that underpins hospital accreditation, funding, and, most importantly, patient safety.

They pride themselves on being a team of seasoned technicians who deliver quality, care, and professional development opportunities.

    What’s in It for You?
Joining this company means becoming part of a close-knit group that values its people and the critical work they do.

    On offer:

  • $33-37/hr + company van (take home) + fuel card + phone + laptop

  • Specialist training, including courses in Australia, plus opportunities to trial new-to-market equipment

  • Professional growth, including mentoring and leadership opportunities

  • Work variety: from private clinics to large hospitals, plus travel to beautiful lower South Island locations (inc.

Queenstown, Wanaka, Te Anau, and Timaru)

  • A supportive, family-focused culture where teamwork and flexibility are valued
  • If you possess a strong electrical background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to meticulous work, this is an opportunity to contribute to a vital service within a supportive, family-oriented company.
