Vector is expanding its team and is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our new energy future mission.
We welcome applications from experienced developers seeking a challenge with strong progression pathways into technical or people leadership, as well as seasoned Intermediate Developers ready to transition to a Senior role.
Vector and AWS have partnered to co-develop Diverge, a cloud-native data platform now evolved into Vector Technology Services (VTS), a subsidiary of Vector, New Zealand's largest distributor of electricity and gas.
The Role
Due to continued success, we’re expanding our team and looking for a Senior Software Developer to join us on our energy future mission.
Responsibilities
- Use advanced software development skills to build software primarily in Java, with frontend work (e.g., React) and infrastructure automation using Terraform
- Grow in your role and career, collaborating with leading global partners such as AWS to build valuable software systems for a global customer base
- Work in a stable, product-focused Agile team and contribute to what and how we build
- Learn (and teach) how to use TDD, BDD, and automated application deployment for effective software delivery
- Gain experience with AWS services like Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and more
Who we are looking for — Qualifications
- Software development experience: advanced Backend programming in Java, Spring, and experience with tooling and processes to ensure software quality
- Cloud computing and AWS skills: Proficient with AWS services like Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, and more; ability to architect and implement serverless solutions
- DevOps / CI/CD: Knowledge of DevOps practices and continuous integration/delivery tools
- Strong problem-solving motivation and a desire to learn
- A collaborative mindset with a passion for helping and supporting teammates

- A customizable managed Software-as-a-Service platform for energy data ingestion, processing, insights, generation, and delivery
- Cloud-native and built entirely from AWS serverless services for scalability, reliability, and resilience
- Deployed and managed through infrastructure-as-code, automated software release, and service orchestration
- Performs streaming data processing in state, temporal sequence, and data dependency aware pipelines
