Anatomic Pathology Service (APS), part of Te Whatu Ora, provides specialist diagnostic histology and cytology services to Auckland and beyond.

We process specimens from over 4,000 private specialists, surgical hospitals, and general practitioners.

To support this breadth of work, our Consultant Pathologists collaborate closely with an experienced team of scientists and technicians to deliver high-quality, timely results for patients and clinicians.
About the Role
Based in our Histology Team at Mt Wellington, this role requires an advanced technical skill set along with strong core leadership competencies to manage daily operations within the APS histology service
This Technical Specialist role is responsible for:
* The productivity, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, document control, training and quality within these specialised areas.

* Managing the frozen section and direct immunofluorescence work streams troubleshooting, training and maintaining a quality service.

* Providing oversight to the return to patient (RTP) team, facilitating RTP meetings, training, document management, process improvements and carries out RTP related audits.Please click here to view the position description for this role.

About you
* Registered with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand with a current APC as a Medical Laboratory Scientist * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Adaptive nature to thrive in highly dynamic team * At least five years experience working within a histology laboratory.Working at Health New Zealand
