**Job Description**

Due to continued growth in the energy sector, we’re expanding our team and looking for a **Senior Primary Engineer** to join our AECOM Energy team in Hamilton or Auckland.

This is a key technical role supporting clients across the generation, industrial, and transmission & distribution sectors, working on medium and high-voltage (MV/HV) electrical design projects throughout New Zealand.

**How you’ll make a difference:**

+ Lead and deliver conceptual and detailed designs of primary electrical systems.

+ Select appropriate electrical equipment to meet technical and client requirements.

+ Produce and review electrical drawings (with CAD team support).

+ Prepare technical specifications and construction contract documentation.

+ Conduct construction monitoring and on-site inspections to ensure design compliance.

+ Support the commissioning of new electrical and control systems.

**Qualifications**

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

**The qualities that help you thrive:**

+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent)

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in MV and HV equipment design e.g. cables, switchgear, transformers, etc.

+ Familiarity with engineering software such as CDEGS, CYMCAP or similar

+ Valid driver’s licence

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is desirable but not essential
