You will also haveMinimum 5 years' experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer roleExperience in BHS, Automation or Materials handlingStrong CAD skills (AutoCAD 3D/Inventor or SolidWorks)Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to engage with consultants, present designs and problem-solve in a project settingExposure to piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) advantageousAbout the RoleAs an experienced Layout Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and optimsing mechanical layouts of automated baggage handling systems used in airports.
This role involves producing 2D/3D layouts, integrating mechanical equipment with building constraints, ensuring compliance with safety and operational requirements, and supporting project execution from concept through to delivery.You'll bring a wealth of experience in delivering practical design solutions from concept through to production.
Your background will show proven success in working on complex projects, solving challenging design problems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions in line with client requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop 2D and 3D layout designs for baggage handling systems (BHS), ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards and airport regulationsTranslate functional system concepts into efficient mechanical layouts that integrate conveyors, scanners, diverters, sorters, carousels and related subsystemsCoordinate with system design engineers, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and controls teams to ensure multidisciplinary integrationWork closely with project managers, site teams and clients to capture requirements and adapt layouts to site constraintsPrepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including general arrangement drawings, equipment positioning and installation instructionsPerform clash detection, clearance studies, and maintain ergonomic and safety considerations in all designsBenefitsFlexible Working Policy (after a minimum period)Free onsite carparking in AvondaleAccess to INSTEP EAP Wellbeing Support SchemeSouthern Cross health insurance discountOpportunity to purchase company shares when availableWhy Join Us?
