  • ASB's Fraud Ops team prevent and manage the impact of fraud on our customers, with a strategy underpinned by advanced technology including the use of machine learning and AI.

    We are currently looking for a Senior Fraud Analytics Specialist to join our Fraud Analytics team.

    As we move ahead with our technology strategy, you will have a pivotal role ensuring we make the most of the exciting new tools available to us.

    This is an opportunity to combine traditional analytical methods with machine learning techniques, all in the name of protecting our customers.

    Reporting to the Senior Manager Fraud Analytics, you will take the lead in our ongoing management of fraud transaction monitoring.

    This is a complex and fascinating world, where you must manage multiple stakeholder relationships.

    You will drive continuous improvement within the business while coaching your fellow team members.

    You'll work on our strategic initiatives, while also responding in real time to fraud attacks.

    | What do I need to be successful?

  • Hands-on data analytics with strong SQL experience in query building and execution.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in data analytics within a AML/CFT, Fraud, credit risk management or finance area.
  • Intermediate experience with Python will be highly advantageous, in addition to use of Jupyter.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills and confidence to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve set goals.
  • Ability to identify trends, use knowledge of topical or world events to be able to forecast / predict upcoming Fraud events.
  • Proficient Excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to summarise complex data and analysis in a concise manner.
  • Tertiary qualification in Financial or Statistical Analysis preferred with a sound background in IT.
  • The Fraud Analytics team supports customers all day and every day, which means there is the expectation you will be on-call after hours periodically with your colleagues.
