Are you detail-oriented, knowledgeable in legislative processes, and passionate about community safety and service?

Rotorua Lakes Council is seeking a dynamic Secretary to drive the statutory functions of our District Licensing Committee (DLC) under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.

About the Role:
Based within the Governance, Strategy and Compliance team, the Secretary leads the administration of functions for the Rotorua District Licensing Committee, which considers and decides all alcohol license applications.

This pivotal position ensures the effectiveness and quality of the licensing process from initial receipt to the issuance of the Committee’s decision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level procedural, legislative, and administrative support and guidance to the DLC
  • Maintain accurate records, registers, and ensure timely reporting to the Alcohol Regulatory Licensing Authority (ARLA)
  • Coordinate licensing hearings and manage all associated documentation to uphold natural justice for all parties
  • Offer expert procedural and legislative advice and education to customers
  • Act as the sole conduit between the DLC and all parties involved in the alcohol licensing process
  • Lead quality assurance in every step of the application and decision-making cycle

About You:

  • Strong understanding of statutory obligations within the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012
  • Exceptional organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive, detail-focused, and committed to maintaining high standards of service and compliance
  • Ability to work closely and collaboratively within the broader Regulatory Compliance Administration Team
