Sales Development Representative Job Opening In WorkFromHome – Now Hiring Too Good To Go

Job description

At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious mission: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together.

More than 1/3 of all food produced in the world is wasted.

And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet.

10% of greenhouse gas emissions come from food waste and loss.

Through our marketplace app, we connect businesses that have unsold, surplus food, with consumers who can buy and enjoy it at ⅓ of retail value.

We are a certified B Corporation with a mission to empower everyone to take action against food waste.

Alongside our marketplace app, we create educational tools, explore new business solutions, and influence legislation to help reduce food waste.

In this role you will make a direct, positive contribution to our mission every day.

As part of the launch team in New Zealand, the journey promises to be exciting as you will be part of changing the conversation around food waste in New Zealand and establishing the Too Good To Go brand in the minds of customers and food businesses.

We’re growing fast: Our community of 122 million registered users and 249,000 active partners across 19 countries, have together already saved 463 million meals from going to waste - avoiding almost 1.251.000 tonnes of CO2e!
In 2023, Too Good To Go was recognised on Fortune's acclaimed 'Change the World' list, named as one of Deloitte's 'Best Managed Companies' and won a coveted 'Cultural Impact Award' at the annual Apple App Store Awards.

We’re looking for a Sales Development Representative to join the Sales team at Too Good To Go in Auckland, New Zealand.

The Role:

Embark on a groundbreaking journey as one of the first Sales Development Representative for Too Good To Go’s inaugural launch in New Zealand.

As a Sales Development Representative, you'll play a pivotal role in introducing Too Good To Go to local businesses and forging partnerships that support our mission.

You'll be at the forefront of our expansion efforts, engaging with cafes, patisseries, groceries, and bakeries to showcase the benefits of joining our platform.

Through proactive outreach via cold calling, email communication, and face-to-face meetings, you'll ignite enthusiasm for Too Good To Go within the New Zealand market and pave the way for impactful partnerships.

You’ll also close inbound opportunities, focusing on conversion and providing stores with a great onboarding experience.

The stores you sign up and support to make their initial Too Good To Go experience positive will continue their food-saving journey long into the future, meaning you will build your own personal legacy within the company and our mission.

This role will have a mix of in-office and field days to balance togetherness, work flexibility and great customer engagement.

In a nutshell, we are looking for:

  • Engaging Communicators: Confident individuals with exceptional communication skills and a knack for building rapport with diverse stakeholders
  • Tenacious Prospectors: Ambitious self starters who thrive in high volume sales, with proven ability to negotiate, influence, and close
  • Team Players: Collaborative individuals who align with our mission and enjoy sharing insights and best practices within a supportive sales environment
  • Results-Oriented Performers: Consistent achievers who excel at meeting targets, driven by a desire for impact and continuous improvement
  • Growth Mindset: Individuals who are adaptable, eager to learn, and committed to embodying our values as we navigate the New Zealand market
  • Ownership Mentality: Proactive self-starters who take accountability, effectively manage workloads, and communicate transparently with their manager

Onboarding Experts: Dedicated to ensuring long-term partner success through effective store and staff training on our platform

  • Resilience & emotional intelligence: an ability to bounce back when the going gets tough, support your team mates, and understand the needs of our partners
  • Additional Language Skills: Fluency in languages beyond English is an advantage

If you have:

  • An interest in business and sales and a desire to learn
  • High energy and self-motivation
  • First class communication skills - from listening to presenting ideas and persuading
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Driven not only by individual performance but also by the desire to see your team succeed
  • Full New Zealand working rights
  • Outside of the visa, if you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications outlined above, tell us why you’d still be a great fit for this role in your cover letter!

then we’d love to hear from you!

We recognise that every individual has a unique background that brings value, so we don’t require the following specific experience, but it would be nice if you have:

  • Experience in a sales role, specifically outbound sales where you have pitched and closed opportunities over the phone and in person
  • Experience cold-calling, demonstrating the resilience and motivation to achieve high activity
  • Experience managing your own sales pipeline and prioritising data based on insights.

Having worked with Salesforce is a plus, but any experience using a CRM tool will be useful

Our values

  • We Win Together
  • We Raise the Bar
  • We Keep It Simple
  • We Build A Legacy
  • We Care

What we offer

  • A rare opportunity to work in a social impact company (and certified B Corporation!) where you can see real and tangible impact in your role.

  • The unique opportunity to join the pioneering team leading the expansion of a proven food surplus marketplace into New Zealand
  • Working alongside an international community of users, partners and 1,100+ colleagues across 19 countries that are on the same important mission.

  • Personal and professional development opportunities in a fast-paced scale-up environment.

  • An inclusive company culture where you can bring your authentic self to work
  • Most of your time will be spent in the office with the team or out in the field talking to prospective partners but we do offer flexibility to work from home as well.

  • A strong, values-driven team culture where we celebrate successes and socialise with colleagues

A Movement for Everyone
We want to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together.

With that mission, it’s only natural that we want to build a diverse and inclusive team of highly capable individuals who are passionate about doing things in a better way.

We strongly believe we all excel and are more creative when we’re allowed to be ourselves, and we’re committed to a culture where all of us belong.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.

If you need reasonable accommodation at any point in the application or interview process, please let us know.
