Job description

About the Role
The respiratory AT is an accredited position for 12 months, for general respiratory training and not sleep training.

However, the respiratory service also attends to patients with sleep disorders.
The sleep service staff includes two sleep physiologists and one sleep technician and one sleep clinical nurse specialist.

The sleep lab can conduct overnight full PSG, in addition to usual.

Therefore, the AT will still have opportunity to sleep investigations and managing patients with sleep related disorders.
The service also has an accredited lung function laboratory able to conduct all tests including cardiopulmonary exercise testing.

The AT will have an opportunity to spend time in the lung function laboratory.

In addition to general respiratory clinics and ward work, the registrar will attend procedural sessions which include insertion of long term intrapleural catheters, performing bronchoscopy and have opportunities to attend EBUS sessions.
Palmerston North Hospital also hosts one of the regional lung cancer MDM providing opportunity for the AT to actively participate in the MDM.

Although this is a respiratory AT position, the AT will also participate in the on call general medicine roster.

About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

* Completed RACP Basic Training, including the written and clinical examinations.
