The role | Te mahi

This role of Research Fellow (Psychologist) will support a departmental research project focused on innovative PTSD treatment.

Responsibilities include delivering a structured Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy programme, assisting with patient screening and recruitment for clinical trials, managing research data, and contributing to protocol development and academic outputs such as peer-reviewed publications.

The primary study investigates the therapeutic potential of low-dose ketamine combined with PE therapy for individuals with PTSD.

This role supports clinical trials through patient screening and coordination, with optional involvement in data analysis and manuscript preparation.

Working closely with a research team, the position helps ensure projects are completed smoothly and successfully.

We are seeking a registered Clinical Psychologist (or Psychologist) with relevant professional experience and current registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board.

You will demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting individuals accessing mental health services and possess a deep understanding of their unique needs.

While prior experience working with clients affected by PTSD is preferred, it is not essential.

Other key skills include:

• Skilled in the administration and interpretation of psychometric assessments.
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient in computer applications including word processing, email, database management, and online research.
• Strong organisation and time management skills with meticulous record-keeping.
• Dedication to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.

This is a part time (0.5 FTE), fixed term (19 December 2025) based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

The appointment range for this position is $97,377 to $114,943.
