The rockets and satellites we build, and launch enable some of the most ambitious and vital space missions globally, supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation and missions to combat climate change, national security, and exciting new technology demonstrations.Our Electron rockethas become the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket annually and has delivered more than 230 satellites to orbit, all while we work to develop Neutron, our upcoming medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle for larger constellation deployment.
Our Space Systems business designs and builds our extensive line of satellites, payloads, and their components, including spacecraft that have been selected to support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and components used on the James Webb Space Telescope.Rocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more.
Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.ABOUT THE ROLE:As a member of the Reaction Wheels Production team, you will part of a team assembling high precision spacecraft components.
You'll have the opportunity to work with modern avionics and electrical systems, test equipment and several mechanical systems.
You will carry out all aspects of the component assembly, testing, troubleshooting and rework.
This is all focused-on quality and build rate to meet the production schedule.
As a technician, you will be hands on, working with tools, test equipment and/or facilities to assemble components required to complete a Reaction Wheel.
Your quality of work, attention to detail and responsibilities contribute to the overall production and delivery schedule.WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:Ownership of assigned and team tasks, with accountability for completing them within the schedule demandsShift times as set out in the employment contract.
Punctual attendance at the start of shift every day is mandatorySupport Research and Development tasks as requiredWorking understanding of tool control and FOD awarenessUnderstand in detail the specific components you are assigned and support the team's leading hand in making sound plans and schedule mitigation plansYOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:Trade qualified in either Avionics/Electrical/Mechanical industryOperation of mechanical, electrical, or automated test equipmentHave a working understanding of standard industry ESDHave a good level of eyesight and be able to inspect assemblies to a high workmanship standardBe able to manufacture components to a high workmanship standardTHESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:The ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomouslyAble to read, understand and follow manufacturing instructions and drawingsRelevant experience in Prototyping and tooling designRelevant experience in New product introduction (NPI)If the above sounds like you apply now!
