You’ll also mentor junior scientists, contribute to strategic R&D planning, and bring a commercial mindset to help translate research into scalable technology platforms.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and execute molecular and cellular engineering strategies for stable cell line development
  • Develop and optimise suspension cell culture systems and screening assays
  • Lead clonal screening, productivity, and phenotype characterisation studies
  • Document and report findings within a quality management framework
  • Support technology transfer, partnerships, and scale‑up activities

Required skills and experience

  • MSc or PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Biomedical Engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum 2 years’ hands‑on industry experience in mammalian cell culture
  • Demonstrated expertise in molecular biology and mammalian cell line development workflows
  • Experience with gene editing systems in mammalian cells
  • Demonstrated team leadership or mentoring experience
  • Knowledge of suspension culture and bioreactor workflows
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS, GLP, or ISO)
  • Exposure to bioprocess scale‑up or technology transfer
  • Understanding of commercial R&D, IP generation, and productisation

At Opo Bio, you’ll be a core team member shaping the technology and culture of a pioneering startup.
