Mō te tūranga | About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Ranger with loads of practical skills to join our Operations team in maintaining high standards of care for our walking tracks and other facilities in our Auckland reserves.

As a Ranger, you’ll work in a team of two, and at times with our wider operations team on other conservation tasks.

The role will be focussed on:

  • Keeping popular visitor sites such as Goat Island Bay (home to New Zealand’s first marine reserve) looking their best for visitors.

  • Maintaining water and wastewater systems.

  • Keeping our walking tracks safe and up to standard.

  • Looking after historic places according to requirements for heritage sites.

This is a permanent, full-time role based out of Warkworth.

  • Physically fit and able to walk long distances carrying tools and equipment
  • A range of practical skills
  • Experience and/or qualifications with motorised tools
  • High standards of care for outdoor facilities
  • Able to work with others in a small team
  • Flexibility to deal with changing priorities and work plans
  • A commitment to health and safety and a willingness to contribute to a safety-first work environment and positive safety culture
  • Full New Zealand driver’s licence

  • First Aid

The salary range for this position is $60,703 to $66,911 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
