Job Description
We’re on the lookout for a qualified and motivated Radiochemist to join our team in Melbourne, Australia, on a full-time basis.
This hands-on role is central to the day-to-day operations of our Radioanalytical Services Section, ensuring high-quality service delivery, compliance with safety and quality standards, and continuous improvement in testing methods.
You’ll also lead method development and validation activities to support national accreditation.
We're seeking a suitably qualified professional with a strong background in Physics (preferably Nuclear Physics) and Mathematics, with a passion for applied science and delivering meaningful analytical results.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
Operation and maintenance of radioanalytical preparation and counting laboratory facilities.Preparation of environmental samples for radionuclide analysis.Processing data, including radioactivity calculations following analysis, and prepare and issue reports.Routine calibration and maintenance of radiation counting systems and associated analytical laboratory instrumentation.Ensure all testing methodology and quality control procedures are performed according to NATA and ISO17025 standards.Ensure TATs are met and immediate actions are taken if potential delays are identified.Ensure new methods and procedures are developed and validated.Develop and implement training plans for staff in your section to ensure a competent cross trained workforce is maintained.Be able to respond to technical queries from internal and external customers.Be able to address all enquiries for radioanalysis including providing quotations.
Able to determine appropriate analyses in consultation with the client based on their specific circumstances.Perform other duties as requested.Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
A Science degree (preferably nuclear physics, radiochemistry or other related discipline), or previous experience working in a science discipline.Demonstrable commercial environmental laboratory experience.Previous NATA signatory or delegated NATA signatory status.Previous supervisory experience (desirable).
