About the Role
We are seeking a Radiation Oncologist (RO) to join our progressive and multidisciplinary department to cover the work of ROs taking sabbatical and Fellowship leave (maximum of one RO to be covered at any time) including:
* Care of patients on treatment * Follow-up clinics * Returning patients (e.g. recently discharged from follow-up, but re-referred with a new issue) * Participate in the on-call roster in some manner.
* Assist with peripheral clinic work (e.g. Thames, Rotorua, Gisborne) that would usually be done by the RO on sabbatical leave.We are looking for a RO with strong clinical skills and the ability to cover a range of tumour streams.
The remuneration package for this role is in accordance with the ASMS Senior Medical Officers MECA.

* Waikato Hospital is a renowned teaching hospital and one of the University of Auckland, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences' five campuses.
As an appointee, you will have opportunities to engage in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.Health NZ, Waikato offers a comprehensive range of Radiation Oncology services.
Our department operates on the Eclipse planning system and boasts four linear accelerators capable of delivering state-of-the-art radiation treatments, including rotational IMRT and cone beam CT image guidance.
We utilize cutting-edge technology such as TrueBeam, HyperArc and Halcyon for radiation procedures.
In addition, we have superficial kilovoltage equipment for the treatment of skin cancers and are national leaders in HDR brachytherapy, with an active brachytherapy programme in treating gynaecological and prostate malignancies.
Our expertise also extends to stereotactic ablative radiation therapy (SABR) for lung cancer and lung metastases, as well as linear accelerator-based fractionated radiosurgery for brain metastases.
We have well established SABR protocols for the spine, kidney, and prostate, with opportunities for the successful applicant to optimise current SABR protocols or contribute to the development of stereotactic techniques for other body sites.
Furthermore, we are the national provider of total skin electron therapy for skin lymphomas.
At Waikato Hospital, you will work alongside eight medical oncologists, nine haematologists, ten radiation oncologists, and five palliative care physicians.
As a Regional Cancer Centre, we serve a regional population of approximately 750,000 people.
Radiation therapy is delivered at Waikato Hospital and outpatient clinics in Hamilton, as well as three secondary hospitals (Thames Hospital, Rotorua Hospital, and Gisborne Hospital).
