About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Quarry Machine Operator to join the team at Alexandra Stone Quarries in Alexandra, Otago.
As a Quarry Machine Operator, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our quarry, operating a range of equipment and heavy machinery to extract, process schist rock for the building and landscape industries.
What you'll be doing
Process schist using guillotine and saws for building products used in construction and landscaping.
Operate a variety of quarry machines such as excavators, loaders, and dump trucks to extract and transport materials.
Conduct pre-start checks and routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations to maintain a safe and sustainable work environment.
Collaborate with the broader quarry team to ensure efficient and coordinated operations.
Monitor and report on production output and equipment performance.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quarry operations.
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Quarry Machine Operator in the quarry industry.
A valid, unrestricted heavy vehicle driving licence and strong operational skills with a range of quarry equipment.
B Grade quarry managers CoC is preferred but not essential.
A commitment to safe work practices and the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to navigate complex operational challenges.
Mechanical skills is an advantage.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively as part of a team.
A passion for the mining industry and a desire to contribute to the success of our quarry operations.
