The opportunity

The Purchasing team in our Procurement Department has an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Coordinator to join the team.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity to join us here at Auckland Council!

As a Purchasing Coordinator, you will provide high quality purchasing support to all procurement activities across Auckland Council, focusing on minimising time, cost and risk associated with this activity.

You can expect to:

  • Action purchasing tasks through SAP including Purchase order set up and management, new vendor setup requests and payment requests
  • Engage and maintain relationships with customers and key stakeholders
  • Support project managers by investigating purchase order commitments
  • Use your purchasing system expertise to provide feedback and test new system upgrades in continuous improvement projects

To be successful in this role you will ideally have 1-2 years’ experience in a similar position, however we are also interested in candidates who are eager to learn and develop their skills on the job.

Knowledge of the local government environment would also be highly advantageous.

We will also be looking for:

  • A passion for delivering excellent customer service
  • A high standard of time management and an ability to work under pressure.

  • Experience working with SAP, SAP Ariba suite is desirable
