Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
As our Property and Contracts Manager, you’ll lead the development of MBIE’s strategic property and procurement plans across a diverse, multi-site portfolio.
This high-impact role is responsible for property and procurement strategy, contract management, investment planning, and operational relationships with suppliers and landlords- ensuring alignment with government frameworks and MBIE’s long-term goals.
You’ll work closely with the Government Property Office, Facilities and Workplace teams, Partnerships and Engagement and other internal stakeholders to shape the future of MBIE’s property portfolio.
From condition assessments and asset lifecycle planning to data-driven decision-making and supplier performance, this role offers variety, challenge, and the opportunity to make a real difference.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead end-to-end management of property-related contracts across all MBIE sites.
* Develop and execute strategic property and procurement plans and investment cases.
* Manage operational landlord relationships and support leasing activities with the Government Property Office.
* Oversee condition assessments and asset lifecycle planning.
* Use data analytics to drive performance, reporting, and continuous improvement.

* 5–10 years’ experience in property and contract management in a complex, multi-site environment.
* Proven expertise in strategic procurement, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
* Strong technical understanding of building systems and maintenance planning.
* Advanced analytical skills and experience with tools like Power BI and Excel.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
* Legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
