What To Expect
Due to continued growth in our Utility scale Energy business, we are seeking a motivated and aspiring Project Manager to help deliver Utility Energy projects in New Zealand.
The Project Manager is ultimately responsible for the safe and compliant engineering, design, construction and commissioning of Utility scale storage projects assigned to them within Tesla deployment portfolio within time, quality and cost constraints, including a high-quality hand over to the Tesla Service team.
The ideal candidate will have solid hands-on experience managing energy infrastructure projects; demonstrates initiative, clear-headed problem solving, and mastery of the tactical detail for each project.
Finally, you'll bring high energy and an optimistic approach towards driving each project to completion, within a dynamic team and business environment.
What You'll Do
Responsible for project ownership and execution, which requires understanding/managing the scope and schedule and keeping all parties in sync.
Overall management and interface with internal & external stakeholders for all phases of projects including design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
Understand and manage the grid connection agreement during design, construction and testing phases.
Identify gaps in scope and responsibility to ensure project success.
This requires a comprehensive understanding of engineering, construction, and permitting concepts and rules of conduct.
Where relevant, liaise with the Business Operations team and supply information to ensure Tesla's overall compliance with the internal agreements and targets.
Ensure all works of Tesla employees and contractors are carried out in a safe, high quality, efficient manner in the spirit of continuous improvement.
Adhere to contractual conditions to ensure compliance and Tesla's subsequent compliance with upstream agreements.
Prepare regular reports on project status and risk.
What You'll Bring
Engineering degree (Electrical preferred), tertiary qualifications or relevant work experience
5+ years of experience
Experience delivering registered generators in the NEM desirable
Experience in delivering projects in Renewable energy, Power distribution or Utilities
PMP/PMC certification preferred
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (mostly local travel but occasionally international travel will be required)
Knowledge of construction contracts, subcontracts, and the bid process
Ability to manage field construction activities and resources
Basic knowledge of Electrical infrastructure
Ability to manage several projects and prioritise
Highly motivated self-starter
Ability to work cross functionally with engineering, business development, and construction personnel
A real team player with Experience managing matrixed project teams
Excellent communication and documentation skills
