Project Engineer Job Opening In New Zealand, New Zealand – Now Hiring Technical Recruitment Solutions Ltd

Job description

This New Zealand-owned dairy processor is recognised globally for its innovation, quality, and ongoing investment in state-of-the-art facilities.

The business has a significant annual capital programme, and this role offers a rare opportunity to be part of a high-performing, close-knit engineering team with a conveyor belt of interesting projects.

The Opportunity
As Project Engineer, you’ll join the site’s project engineering team responsible for delivering a capital plan typically valued at $15–20m annually, with previous larger projects reaching $80m+.

Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you’ll take full ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning.
Expect variety—small process upgrades through to major greenfield builds—and the autonomy to scope, budget, manage contractors, oversee installation, and ensure successful handover.

With around 6–8 active projects at any time, you’ll work across mechanical, process, civil, and utilities, with support from consultants for specialist design.
This role suits an engineer who thrives in detail, enjoys being close to the plant and trades, and values delivering tangible results.

  • A mechanical or process engineering degree (or similar)

  • Proven project delivery experience, ideally in dairy, food, or other process industries

  • Strong technical grounding and confidence to engage in detailed design reviews

  • End-to-end project management skills—capex, design facilitation, contractor management, commissioning

  • Emotional intelligence and resilience to work alongside trades in a practical, fast-paced environment
