Urgent! Programme Advisor Social Innovation Job Opening In Auckland – Now Hiring Auckland Council
We are recruiting for a Programme Advisor to join our team on a part-time fixed term (24 hours per week) for 12 months.
In this role, you will support the Programme Manager, work closely with team members, and provide information to the Finance Business Partner.
You will play an important part in ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial functions, including the monthly finance cycle, monitoring, and reporting.
This role is key to helping managers and teams track and understand their budgets and expenditure, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and consistency.

Drive financial accuracy – assist with budgets, finance task and support compliance across programmes.
Shape smarter decisions – turn financial insights into clear, actionable insights for managers.
Support impactful projects – ensure funding is managed, and utilised effectively.

This role supports The Southern Initiative, Auckland Council's social innovation team working with South and West Auckland communities to drive equity, empower Maori and Pacific whanau, and create systems change for a more just and thriving Tamaki Makaurau.

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate monthly finance meetings assisting with reporting on funding utilisation, supporting budget management capability across the team, and managing the action register.
Support operational finance delivery, including the unit's monthly financial management cycle.
Develop documentation to help leads manage their programme budgets effectively.
Lead new initiatives by coordinating financial set-up with the Finance Business Partner, ensuring funds are prepared, tracked, and utilised correctly.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you will need to be savvy in budget management, procurement, and risk management, with experience monitoring and advising on budgets, navigating contracts and ensuring compliance with financial and organisational policies.
Solid experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Proficiency in financial systems, advanced Excel skills and SAP.
The ability to turn financial reports into clear, actionable insights for managers and programme leads.
