We currently have two opportunities to join our Manufacturing Workshop team as a Production Fitter – one permanent position and one fixed term position (until 30 October ****).
Both roles are key to supporting the maintenance, improvement, and development of our manufacturing equipment and processes that help deliver world-class critical communications technology.
Te Turanga – The Role
As a Production Fitter, you'll play an important part in ensuring our production equipment and processes operate at the highest standard.
Working closely with production operators, engineers, and project teams, you'll contribute to the design, construction, and maintenance of production tools and machinery.
The duties of the role will include:
Performing general machining and toolmaking work – including concept design, CAD modelling, precision machining, and assembly of jigs, fixtures, and production aids.
Carrying out safety assessments and maintenance work on production equipment.
Investigating plant and process issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
Providing training and technical support to production operators and team leaders.
Supporting production projects and collaborating with Production Engineers to ensure new products are manufacturable.
Advising on improvements to production processes, automation, and mechanical aids.
Participating in the Manufacturing Standby/Call-out roster when required (following appropriate training).
O pukenga – About You
To be successful in this role, you'll bring a mechanical or maintenance engineering qualification (such as a Trade Certificate or equivalent experience) along with several years of hands-on engineering experience.
You will also bring:
Strong experience in machining, fabrication, welding, and mechanical fitting.
Competence using CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo).
Familiarity with pneumatic systems and maintenance management systems.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
Preferred additional skills include:
Electrical trade experience.
A current First Aid Certificate.
