Full time, Permanent opportunity in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch$132,727 salary per annum + 5 weeks' annual leave + suite of benefitsAs a Procurement Advisor - Special Projects, you will play a key role in shaping and embedding procurement best practice across Kainga Ora.This role is all about enabling improvement.
You'll proactively identify opportunities to uplift procurement frameworks, policies, tools, and behaviours, ensuring they remain practical, consistent, and aligned to government requirements.
You'll take ownership of reviewing and maintaining procurement policy, process documentation, templates, and guidance materials - and you'll work closely with procurement staff and leaders to make sure these resources support both day-to-day practice and longer-term capability growth.You'll also be at the heart of change adoption, leading capability-building sessions, supporting communities of practice, and helping our people navigate new ways of working.
Your work will help ensure that procurement at Kainga Ora is confident, consistent, and ready to deliver public value at scale.We are looking for someone with:Tertiary qualification in Procurement, Public Policy, Business, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience.At least 5 years' experience in procurement, capability uplift, or business improvement in a complex or public sector environment.Proven ability to identify and scope improvement opportunities through consultation, collaboration, and analysis.Experience leading or coordinating policy and process reviews.Sound understanding of the Government Procurement Rules and public sector operating context.Experience supporting organisational change and improving team capability.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and influence good practice.Good knowledge of project and change management principles.MCIPS or progress toward certification.Experience in a procurement centre of excellence or strategic procurement function.At Kainga Ora, ours is the important responsibility of transforming New Zealand's housing choices, outcomes and the entire housing sector by creating homes and communities that allow New Zealanders to thrive.We value diversity and are committed to working with each other and our customers in an inclusive and respectful way.
