Overview
As a Principal Hardware Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative Marine products.
You will work closely with both local and remote teams and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, design, execution and test.
You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

Responsibilities
- Design world-class hardware, and, if applicable, software/firmware.
- Broad cross-functional engineering influence with an emphasis on delighting customers with innovation in the consumer electronics space
- Complete technical ownership for the programs
- Lead all aspects of technology readiness including manufacturability
- Assist with technical Research and Proof of Concept phases

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experiences, through multiple successful product development cycles, in designing high speed digital/analog signal processing electronics
- Consumer products experience and have completed at least two product life cycles
- Track record of developing modules suitable for operational environments, performing trade off studies and sensitivity analyses, and comparing alternative architectures with system performance estimates and pragmatic estimation of unknown parameters.
- Cross-functional experience in Software, Industrial and Product Design
- Strong problem solving and debugging skills with a solid understanding of core engineering principles, fundamental circuit design, and analytical techniques is required.
- High level of proficiency at Analog/Digital/Board simulation (ex: SPICE, HyperLynx) and solid experience with high speed analog and digital circuit design
- Experience with DSP fundamentals and FPGA implementation
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink
- Experience with DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing)
- Experience with high speed ADC/DAC interface, SERDES, PCIe
- Experience developing hardware verification and functional test plans
- Experience developing hardware component and system level specifications
- Fundamental knowledge of the following HW design principals: Signal Integrity, Power Design, Computer Architecture
- Factory experience including sustaining activities and field issues resolution
- Proficient with Schematic /PCB capture with tool sets such as Mentor PADs.
- Advanced experience with Hardware lab equipment such as digital scope, logic analyzer, and soldering.
- Technical document writing using Visio, Word, Excel, and / or PowerPoint
- Familiarity with revision and document control (git, cvs, clearcase, etc.)
- Ability to perform multiple tasks with a meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with multiple teams across various functions (i.e. vendors, engineers, procurement and purchasing)
- Leadership, coaching and mentoring skills to support Teams technical growth
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters, Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Electronics Engineering
- 15+ years of hands-on industry experience in complex hardware development, designing, implementing, and shipping consumer electronics products with responsibility for high quality deliverables
- Familiarity with Syteline system and Mentor Hardware development tools
- Experience with High level programming language with C
- Working understanding of Radar systems
- Control Theory background
Working Conditions
- Technical, hands-on position
- Working in hardware lab work with advanced Instrumentation
- On water testing on advanced prototypes and new products
- Will work mainly with the New Zealand team in office but will have occasional need to partner with colleagues in Europe
- Occasional travel required to our MFG locations/Suppliers/other Teams
- A weekly evening call with European Team might be necessary while working on a common project
