Job description

* Full-time, permanent role based in Wellington.
* Provide intellectual leadership using evidence from across the NZ health system and other jurisdictions to improve the programme of work being undertaken by the HSS Funder.
* Work with the Director HSS Funding to make a difference.

About the Role
As Principal Advisor to the Director, you will champion the development and communication of HSS Funder strategy, working with the wider Planning, Funding and Outcomes Team and Regions to deliver.
In this role, you will work closely with the Director, General Managers and subject matter experts to enhance the overall capability of the team.
You will directly support the Director, HSS Funding to ensure the strategies that inform the work programme are effectively developed and communicated, being well informed by evidence and the intellectual leadership of PFO.
You will be able to think broadly and bring various processes and methodologies to inform the development of advice.
Your ability to synthesise written information, giving clarity to intervention logics and outcomes, to communicate effectively with executive leaders, Boards and Ministers will be paramount in this role.
About the Team & Service
The Hospital funding team is responsible at the national level for planning, strategy, performance, outsourcing, and data and analytics.
Our aim is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by using evidence, data insights, and clinical advice to plan, fund, monitor and improve nationwide health services.
We have a strong leadership role in national planning and performance against key outcome measures, including the Government's health targets.
Our programmes are informed by engagement with, and leadership from, clinicians, sector experts, service providers, people with lived experience, communities and families.
About you
You will be a systems and strategic thinker capable of working alongside the Director HSS Funding.
You will use your intellectual leadership to develop and support the programmes of work being led by the Director HSS Funding.
You will have:
* A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive and comparable relevant experience.
* The ability to collaborate to provide high-quality written communications.
* Experience as a Principal, considering both strategic and operational needs.
* A strategic outlook with the ability to analyse large and complex issues.
