**About the Role**As Principal Advisor, Business Support, you will provide critical business management and operational support across the Planning, Funding and Outcomes (PFO) Directorate.
In this role, you will lead and coordinate business planning processes, risk management activities, and contract management oversight, ensuring the effective delivery of PFO's work programme.
You will work closely with Directors, subject matter experts, and key business partners to provide trusted advice on financial performance, operational planning, and resource management.
A key focus of this role is enabling business efficiency through process improvement, fostering collaboration across teams, and ensuring alignment with national health priorities and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.
**About the Team**You will be part of the Operations Group within the Planning, Funding and Outcomes Directorate.
The team provides strategic operational and business support across multiple functions and works closely with Finance, Investment and Infrastructure, and other Health New Zealand business units to ensure integrated delivery and performance.
**About you**You are a strategic and solutions-focused advisor with experience supporting complex programmes in large organisations.
With a strong understanding of business planning, performance, and operational management, you are confident navigating competing priorities while maintaining high-quality standards.
You have the ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and work collaboratively across diverse teams.You will bring:* A relevant graduate or post-graduate qualification.
* 5–10 years' experience in a senior advisory or business management role within a large or complex organisation, ideally within the health or public sector.
* Strong experience in business planning, operational performance management, and risk and contract oversight.
* Proven ability to analyse complex information, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement practical solutions.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to write, present, and influence effectively.
* Sound understanding of financial and compliance principles, and experience supporting Health, Safety and Wellbeing initiatives.
* Commitment to equity and the practical application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in your work.Desirable experience includes leadership in organisational change, vendor contract management, and the development of systems or processes that drive efficiency and alignment across business units.
