Awanui Labs - Dunedin provides high quality diagnostic pathology services to the community, healthcare professionals and their patients.
Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens from patients within the community and the hospital.We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Phlebotomist.
This is a fixed-term, full-time position of 80 hours fortnightly.About the roleResponsibilities include:Blood collection, responsible for handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation.Provide professional customer service, and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory.About youTo be successful in this role:A positive and friendly approach to your work and demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity.Compassion for others, including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances.Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.Respect for always ensuring patient confidentiality and in all matters.Good computer skills.Ability to manage a demanding, fast-paced environment while maintaining strong self-management and time-management skills.Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in Patient Services is desirable, but not essential.Eligibility to work in NZ.What's in it for youYou will be joining a friendly, high-performing, and forward-thinking team environment.
