About the Role
As a Patient
Support & Security Worker, you will assist our teams to ensure that we continue to provide a welcoming and
safe environment for the Emergency Department, Inpatient Mental Health Unit and
our Older Persons' Mental Health Unit at Alexandra Hospital in Richmond.
You'll
also focus on working with staff to best meet the needs of patients and their
whānau accessing our services.
As this is a casual position, there are
no fixed/guaranteed hours of work.
However, the more available you are the more
shifts you'll be offered.
Hospitals are here to help people, but
it takes a great team beyond the Doctors and Nurses to keep things running
smoothly and ensure everyone is well looked after.
Here at Nelson Hospital an
important part of making this happen relies on always having an awesome Patient
Support & Security team on site.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our team is made up of 12 staff across Nelson/Marlborough.
This position has a focus on ensuring that people
who attend ED and Mental Health services are supported within a welcoming
environment that supports safety, recovery and wellbeing.

About you
As aPatient Support & Security Worker, you will:
* be the type of person who works in a rational and calm manner, * someone who has the skills and experience to effectively
de-escalate difficult situations, * promote a safe and therapeutic environment, * be able to relate well to patients and their visitors, * be able to work with the clinical team and follow directions.Previous experience in security, or a
related industry is preferred.
However, this is not essential as training will
be provided.
Additionally you will have:
* empathy and a non-judgmental attitude
towards patients and members of the public * the ability to relate with ease to
people from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds * the ability to recognise and pass on
issues that may affect patient welfare * a good level of physical fitness and
mobility.
The
successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ
visa at the time of applying.
