Mō tēnei tūranga mahi (About the position)

We’re looking for a Mechanical Pipeline Technician to bring some good energy to the Southern Field Team.  This is a fantastic role for someone who loves getting  out and about, interacting with a range of stakeholders (landowners, contractors, iwi, local councils) and working on assets of national significance.

  • Undertake high quality mechanical maintenance services on our gas transmission network.
  • Take charge and get involved in site operations during the construction phase of station or pipeline installation and modifications.
  • Authorise and survey the activities of 3rd parties working near pipeline easements.
  • Assist with operational services such as pipeline construction, pigging and commissioning.
  • Participate in the 24/7 On-Call roster and emergency response.

This role works as part of a team that covers the southern part of our pipeline, from approximately Waitotara, across to Hastings and down to Wellington.  This role works in remote locations, either independently or as part of a small team; with your office being home based.

In order to meet our response times, this role will need to be based in the lower north island, including Whanganui, Palmerston North, Levin and across to Hastings.

As well as being an awesome team member who brings a 'can do' attitude and good energy to everything you do, you'll also leverage your relationship management skills to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

You are mechanically minded with a relevant trade qualification to match (such as mechanical, fitter/turner, automative or plant maintenance trades).  You’ll have an understanding of technical drawings, isolations and isolating plant.  Electrical experience, permitting and energy sector experience would be a bonus.  

An ability to work independently, self-manage, prioritise and proactively communicate is important, along with a full, clean driver's licence.   You strive for continuous improvement, developing yourself and others as you share your experiences, particularly with apprentices and your hoamahi.
