Job description

About the Role

As an experienced Layout Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and optimising mechanical layouts of automated baggage handling systems used in airports.

This role involves producing 2D/3D layouts, integrating mechanical equipment with building constraints, ensuring compliance with safety & operational requirements and supporting project execution from concept through to delivery.

You’ll bring a wealth of experience in delivering practical design solutions from concept through to production.

Your background will show proven success in working on complex projects, solving challenging design problems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions in line with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop 2D and 3D layout designs for baggage handling systems (BHS), ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards and airport regulations

  • Translate functional system concepts into efficient mechanical layouts that integrate conveyors, scanners, diverters, sorters, carousels and related subsystems

  • Coordinate with system design engineers, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and controls teams to ensure multidisciplinary integration

  • Work closely with project managers, site teams and clients to capture requirements and adapt layouts to site constraints

  • Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including general arrangement drawings, equipment positioning and installation instructions

  • Perform clash detection, clearance studies, and maintain ergonomic and safety considerations in all designs
